The complex – dedicated to the holy apostle Andrew – is located at 335 m a.s.l. in a lonely place, far from the town of Borzonasca approximately 3 kilometers. The story about his foundation is still uncertain, because there isn’t a certain date on the historical events. Some remembrances tell that the Church and monastery were built at the behest of King Liutprando between 712 and 714, it was also the residence of the royal, to replace the fortress built by the Byzantines in the 6th century, now in decline. It was dedicated to Saint George. Even today the Abbey of Borzone remains one of the most beautiful monasteries of Italy placed in a peacefull and harmony place with nature.
